Matthew Mitcham and the 2008 Olympics

Matt is hot! I am not usually a big Olympics fan, but I have been watching nbcolympics.com a lot today.

I discovered two interesting facts:

First off, of the 14 US Olympians from Michigan, 3 of them are from Saginaw! As you know, Ryan and I lived in Saginaw for a few years and I found this very exciting! Did you know that Serena Williams (Tennis) is from Saginaw???

Pretty cool...

In addition, I found that of the more than 10,000 Olympians, only 10 of them are openly gay! WTF! The latest edition of The Advocate Magazine had a really good article on Matthew Mitcham. Matt is a 20 year old man from Australia, who is openly gay. I went to his site, mattmitcham.com and was really excited to learn about him.

As popular as he is, he could not even afford $$$ to have his partner come to China to see him compete! His website could not even afford the royalities to have action shots of him diving (I get that photographers own the rights of the photos they shoot...but it seems crazy that the subject can not even use the pictures themselves without paying!)

That is all I have to say about the olympics right now...more to come later I assume!
